We know that calendula is very beneficial for the skin.
However, studies have shown that their therapeutic action is much more diverse: immune, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal, anti-inflammatory, choleretic and choleretic, gastro-soothing, emollient, antitumor and antitrichomoniasis.
Natural medicine uses calendula for many internal diseases in the form of infusion, powder, tincture or ointments (in combination with other herbs).
Laboratory studies have shown that calendula contains active substances that prevent painful digestive contractions, stimulate the smooth muscles of the digestive tube and eliminate fecal masses, help restore mucous membranes damaged by infections and reduce irritability of the colon.
In all these cases, calendula powder is recommended 1/2 teaspoon before and after meals. The treatment lasts 12 days. Drink calendula infusion 2-4 cups a day.
Stomach ulcer and gastritis
Calendula helps to heal the protective mucous membrane of the stomach damaged by the disease.
It can reduce the pain of ulcers and gastritis until they disappear completely, if a treatment of 8 weeks is followed with 4 cups of infusion per day.
Colitis fermentation and decay
A mixture of calendula powder and St. John’s wort powder (in equal amounts) is recommended.
A 3-week treatment is carried out, during which 4 tablespoons of the mixture are taken per day, before meals.
In addition to reducing pain, it helps repair intestinal walls damaged by bacterial infection and intestinal flora, while regulating intestinal transit.
Dyspepsia and cholecystitis
Due to its anti-inflammatory effect on the gallbladder, calendula helps regulate and drain bile into the duodenum.
It is done with a 3-week treatment with calendula tincture, 1 teaspoon 3 times a day 20 minutes before meals.
Dysmenorrhea
Women suffering from dysmenorrhea can try a 3-month treatment with calendula powder, 4 tablespoons per day.
Calendula helps in this case by soothing cramps and reducing bleeding for up to 3-4 days.
Cancers, tumors
Calendula treatment suppresses the development of malignant cells and at the same time stimulates immune system cells (T-lymphocytes) to attack tumor formations.
For breast cancer, prostate cancer, pancreatic cancer, ovarian cancer, and colorectal cancer, a 2-month treatment with 1 teaspoon of calendula powder 4 times a day is recommended.
If there are tumors in the abdomen, enemas with calendula tea are also recommended, 12 per month.
Applied externally, calendula cream and oil help to heal lesions more quickly after radiotherapy.
Wounds, contusions, surgical cuts
To prevent skin infection, washes with calendula tincture are recommended, followed by calendula ointment for faster skin healing.
How to prepare calendula infusion, powder and tincture
Calendula powder is made from dried flowers finely ground through an electric coffee grinder.
Store in well-sealed glass jars.
The infusion is prepared from a teaspoon of calendula, scalded with 250 ml of boiling water. Drink in small sips.
The tincture is prepared from fresh flowers (including leafy shoots and buds).
Wash them under running water, let them drain, and then chop them finely.
Place in a glass jar and add 1 lemon with the peel, cut into slices. Add a little water and stir with a wooden spoon.
Let it soak for 1-2 hours, then pour 70% alcohol into the jar.
Let it soak for another 10 days, then strain and store in dark bottles in a cool place.
The ointment is prepared as follows:
– put 1 package of melted butter, lard, coconut oil, or olive oil in a saucepan
– add 50 g of beeswax, 1 tablespoon of candied honey and 2 handfuls of fresh, finely chopped marigold flowers
– leave on the fire until almost boiling, stirring well
– remove the pot from the heat and leave until the next day
– the next day, heat the mixture and strain into glass jars
