The powerful combination of vinegar and cinnamon as an insecticide
Not only does the vinegar and cinnamon mixture act as a natural repellent, but it also has insecticidal properties that help eradicate mosquitoes. Vinegar is known for its strong smell, which scares away insects, while cinnamon is a natural insecticide that negatively affects mosquito eggs and larvae. Together, they form an effective barrier against these pests.
Ingredients
- 1 cup white or apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Water (optional, for dilution)
- Spray bottle
Preparation
- Mix the ingredients: In a bowl, combine the vinegar and cinnamon powder. If you prefer a less intense mixture, you can add a little water to dilute it.
- Shake well: Close the container and shake well to make sure the cinnamon is completely dissolved in the vinegar.
- Pour into the spray bottle: Transfer the mixture to a clean spray bottle. Be sure to label the bottle to avoid confusion.
- Application: Spray the mixture on areas where you have noticed the presence of mosquitoes, such as windows, doors, and corners. You can also spray the mixture on your skin, although it’s a good idea to test a small area first.
- Reapply regularly: To maintain its effectiveness, reapply the insecticide every few days or after it rains.
